TRAINING COURSE – LOGISTICS & SUPPLY CHAIN IN AVIATION – DURATION : 15 DAYS

STARTING – 20 March 2023 – FINISHING – 1 April 2023

VENUE : DELHI, INDIA

This course is designed for personnel to gain relevant knowledge and understanding of Int’l Cargo Handling & Procedures. The course provides detailed information as to how goods are registered to be sent by air, how to work out rates, ULDs, handling of special cargo and temp. sensitive cargo. Role of Int’l agencies in Aviation. The course is most suited for aspirants who would like to make career in Air Cargo Industry.

The course is conducted by experienced SME and ex Airline member. He is also visiting faculty with RGNAU and GMR Aviation Academy.

SYLLABUS MODULE OF LOGISTICS, SUPPLY CHAIN & AVIATION IN AIR CARGO

DAY: 1

BECOMING EXPORTER:

  1. APPLY ONLINE FOR IEC ON DGFT SITE
  2. OPEN BANK ACCOUNT AND OBTAIN AD CODE LETTER
  3. GET EXPORT HOUSE INFRASTRUCTURE IN ORDER
  4. DO EXTENSIVE MARKETING TO GET BUYER(S)
  5. BY WAY OF ADVERTISING
  6. BY MEANS OF SOCIAL MEDIA
  7. BY PARTICIPATING IN FAIRS (DOMESTIC & INTERNATIONAL)
  8. GETTING EXPORT HOUSE REGISTERED AT CUSTOMS AT APO AND SEAPORT

PREPARATION OF SHIPMENT:

  1. PROCURE ORDER(S) FROM BUYER(S)
  2. FINALISE PRICES AND QUANTITY OF THE ORDER WITH THE BUYER
  3. PROCURE RAW MATERIAL FOR THE BUYER’S ORDER
  4. CHECK QUALITY OF RAW MATERIAL 
  5. TALK ABOUT QUALITY CONTROL & QUALITY ASSURANCE
  6. TALK ABOUT QUALITY MANAGEMENT & ITS PRINCIPLES

DAY: 2

DOCUMENTATION & TRANSPORTATION:

  1. PREPARE DOCUMENTS (INVOICE, PACKING LIST etc) FOR THE EXPORT WHILE GOODS GETTING READY
  2. INVOICE SHOULD BE PREPARED ON THE BASIS OF FOB, C&F OR CIF (AS PER THE CONTRACT WITH THE BUYER)
  3. TAXATION SHOULD BE KEPT IN MIND WHILE PREPARING INVOICE
  4. CARTONS IN WHICH GOODS TO BE PACKED SHOULD BE MARKED WITH INVOICE NO., LOT NO., CARTON NO. AND OTHER MARKINGS, IF REQUIRED
  5. E-WAY BILL TO BE PREPARED BEFORE DESPATCHING SHIPMENT TO THE WAREHOUSE OF IATA/CUSTOMS CLEARING AGENT
  6. GOODS TO BE LOADED AND TRANSPORTED IN VEHICLE TO CLEARING AGENT’S W/HOUSE KEEPING IN MIND TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS ETC.

CUSTOMS CLEARANCE:

  1. TAKE GROSS WEIGHT & DIMENSIONS (L/B/H) OF THE CARTONS TO OBTAIN VOLUME WEIGHT OF THE SHIPMENT ONCE GOODS ARRIVE AT CLEARING AGENT’S W/HOUSE
  2. EXPLAIN CONCEPT OF VOLUME WEIGHT & WHY AND HOW IT IS TAKEN
  3. FILE INVOICE & PACKING LIST WITH CUSTOMS TO OBTAIN CHECKLIST FOR CLIENT TO CHECK, VERIFY DETAILS AND APPROVE TO PROCEED FURTHER
  4. AFTER RECEIVING GO-AHEAD FROM EXPORTER, SUBMIT CHECKLIST IN CUSTOMS TO OBTAIN SHIPPING BILL NO.
  5. BY NOW WE SHOULD HAVE DECIDED ABOUT THE AIRLINE TO BE USED FOR TRANSPORTING SHIPMENT TO THE FINAL DESTINATION BUT WITH THE CONSENT OF THE EXPORTER CLIENT.
  6. AIRLINE IS DECIDED ON THE BASIS OF RATE/KG, FREQUENCY OF FLIGHT ETC.
  7. MARK AIRWAYBILL NO. ON ALL THE CARTONS AND STICK A/LINE LABELS WHICH SHOW DETAILS OF THE SHIPEMT (AWB NO., NO. OF PKGS, GROSS WT., 3 LETTER CODE OF FINAL DESTINATION)

 DAY: 3-4

SHIPMENT READY FOR AIRPORT:

  1. EXECUTE TERMINAL CHARGES AGAINST PAYMENT FOR THE SHIPMENT AND GET THE SLOT

FOR SENDING THE SHPT TO APO AND FURTHER INSIDE EXPORT TERMINAL

  • PREPARE DRAFT MASTER AIRWAY BILL (MAWB) AND HAVE IT VERIFIED AND APPROVED FROM THE EXPORTER CLIENT
  • PREPARE FINAL MAWB AFTER GETTING APPROVAL FROM THE EXPORTER
  • TALK ABOUT CONCEPT OF MASTER & HOUSE AIRWAY BILL AND THE NECESSITY OF USING BOTH (UNDER WHAT SITUATION HAWB USED)
  • LOAD AND DESPATCH SHIPMENT TO AIRPORT FOR CUSTOMS CLEARANCE AND THEREAFTER HANDOVER TO CONCERNED AIRLINE
  • DOCUMENTS (INVOICE, PACKING LIST AND LUT) MUST ACCOMPANY THE GOODS FOR CUSTOMS OFFICIALS

CUSTOMS CLEARANCE & HANDOVER TO AIRLINE:

  1. ONCE SHIPMENT INSIDE APO WAREHOUSE, CUSTOMS OFFICIAL INSPECTS THE GOODS AND PASSES FOR LEO (LET EXPORT ORDER)

  • CARGO CLEARING AGENT REPACKS CARTON(S) WHICH WERE OPENED FOR CUSTOM’S EXAM AND SHIFTS THE ENTIRE SHIPMENT TO X-RAY MACHINE
  • AFTER X-RAY OF GOODS, SHIPMENT IS SHIFTED TO A PARTICULAR LOCATION BY THE AUTHORITY IN CHARGE AND BUNCH OF DOCS (AWB, SHIPPING BILL AND LOCATION SLIP) HANDED OVER TO THE CONCERNED AIRLINE

DAY: 4-5

LOADING/SHIFTING TO AIRSIDE/LOADING INSIDE AIRCRAFT

  • AIRLINE STAFF PREPARES LIST OF SHIPMENTS TO BE LOADED IN ULDs AND TAKES PERMISSION FROM EFO (EXPORT FREIGHT OFFICER) AND PREPARES FOR LOADING
  • SHIPMENTS ARE LOADED IN ULDs AND STACKED IN A LOCATION WITH THE HELP OF ETV
  • SHOW IMAGES (PPTs) OF CONTAINERS AND PALLETS BEING MOVED ON TROLLEYS, DOLLEYS AND TRANSPORTERS AT AIRSIDE
  • LOADED ULDs SHIFTED TO AIRCRAFT SIDE TO BE LOADED IN AIRCRAFT
  • SHOW IMAGES OF ULDs BEING LOADED FROM TRANSPORTER TO HIGH-LIFT LOADER AND FINALLY INTO THE BELLY OF THE AIRCRAFT
  • SHOW PPTs OF PALLETS & CONTAINERS BEING LOADED INSIDE AIRCRAFT
  1. WEEKLY TEST (ON DAY 5)…..FIRST TEST ON FRIDAY

DAYS: 6-8

SPECIAL CARGO HANDLING, ULDs, NOC, CITY & AIRLIN CODES ETC.

  1. TALK ABOUT SPECIAL CARGO AND ITS CODES (AVI, HUM, VAL , DIP ETC.)
  2. TARIFF RATES AND DIFFERENT SLABS (WEIGHT WISE)
  3. EXPLAIN IN REASONABLE DETAIL ABOUT IATA AND ITS ROLE IN AVIATION
  4. DISCUSS AND EXPLAIN ABOUT ULDs (SHOW IMAGES WITH PPT)
  5. TALK ABOUT ULD AND BULK LOADING AT AIRLINE WAREHOUSE & AIRCRAFT
  6. TRANSFER OF CARGO TO OAL (OTHER AIRLINE) WITH ACTM
  7. DISCUSS AND USE OF 3 LETTER CODES OF INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMS APOs AND CITIES
  8. TALK ABOUT 2 LETTER CODES AND 3 DIGIT CODES OF AIRLINES (eg. AI & 098)
  9. SHOW DIFFERENT LABELS FOR SPECIAL HANDLING (FRAGILE, THIS SIDE UP, DGR etc.)

FREIGHT CALCULATIONS IN DETAIL & EXPLAIN CONCEPT OF MAWB & HAWB

ROLE OF IATA IN AVIATION

ROLE OF DGCA IN AVIATION

TALK ABOUT CO2 EMISSION AND ITS SIGNIFICANCE IN AVIATION

LECTURE ON SOFT SKILLS AND COUPLE OF OTHER GENERAL AVIATION RELATED IMPORTANT TOPICS

TAKE UP CONCEPT OF QC AND QA  AND ITS ROLE IN LOGISTICS

FINAL EXAM ON DAY 15 (3 HOURS)

TRAINING COURSE FACULTY – MR. YOGESH BHANDARI

Mr. Yogesh Bhandari is a dynamic and competent professional in the field of Logistics and Aviation, Personnel and Administration. He has worked with Japan Airlines for 15 years (JAL) and has fairly good experience and practical knowledge of Logistics and Aviation including Flight Handling and Airport operations, Personnel and Administrative matters.

He has worked in various divisions in Japan Airlines, New Delhi, viz. Cargo, Reservations & Ticketing, Administration, Personnel and HR. He was involved with formulating policies to focus on development of abilities to meet present and future goals, evaluating the requirements, understanding the skills required, identifying the possible sources and selecting the best candidates. He was part of annual budgeting team for the entire Delhi JAL office (city and airport) and was reporting directly to Head Office in Tokyo, Japan via Station Manager, Delhi.

During His tenure in JAL, He attended various trainings and seminars at different JAL offices in Far East Asia viz. Hong Kong, Tokyo, Jakarta, Bangkok, Abu Dhabi and travelled on personal level globally. At present, He is also Guest Faculty at Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University (RGNAU).
